Aim and Scope
Economic Studies Journal was founded in 1988 by the Economic Research Institute at the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences. It is the first international economic journal in Bulgaria, referenced and indexed in SCOPUS since 2009. Over the past 15 years, following good international practices and standards, the journal has become an authoritative publication for authors from all continents.
The aim of the journal is to select and publish articles that will have a high impact and significance for the scientific community. It publishes the results of theoretical and empirical research in the field of economic science, practice and policy. It presents new ideas and provides a platform for discussions on contemporary issues relevant to the scientific community and society in Bulgaria and Europe, as well as on a global scale.
The journal publishes articles on issues within the scope of the macroeconomics and microeconomics, international and regional economics, and social-economic policy. Among the priority areas of the journal are:

All articles submitted to the journal must be the result of original theoretical and empirical research that can be verified. Upon request, the authors must provide all necessary evidence of the achieved results (questionnaires, databases, computer processing programs, etc.).
The editorial policy allows the journal to publish special issues in collaboration with important international scientific forums or to organize thematic sections in regular issues to highlight new research directions.
Economic Studies journal publishes 8 issues per year with the following regularity – one issue/month from February to July, and 1 issue/month in October and November each year. As of 2018, the journal publishes articles only in English.
All articles in Economic Studies journal go through an initial editorial screening and are double-blind peer reviewed. Annually 250-300 articles are submitted to the journal, of which about 90 are published. The average time for the first decision after receiving the reviews is about 8 weeks.
All articles and studies in Economic Studies journal have open access, which means free online access immediately after publication, and are located in the “ARCHIVE” section.
